Plan Christmas early: why October is the key month for your merchandising

If you think it is too early to talk about Christmas, let us change your mind. In personalised corporate merchandising, October is the month when Christmas gifts are chosen, approved and ordered. Companies that wait until mid-November find popular models sold out, very tight timescales and less to choose from.

Why October and not November

• Production times: once you approve the mockup, personalisation usually takes 1 to 3 weeks depending on the method. Up to 500 units, in working days: 4 to 7 for laser engraving, 5 to 8 for pad printing or digital printing, 8 to 11 for screen printing and 12 to 15 for embroidery. Then 24-48 h delivery to mainland Spain. And in peak season the workshop is busier.
• Limited stock: the most popular Christmas models (flasks, gift sets, hoodies, blankets) have finite stock, and the most common colours and sizes sell out first.
• December has fewer days than it seems: the 8 December bank holiday takes almost a week in many companies, and the last useful week to hand out gifts is 14 to 18 December.
• Internal approvals: budget, design and quantities usually go through several people. That takes time too.

Your Christmas timeline

1. By mid-October: define products, quantities and budget, and request the mockup with your logo (we send it free within 24 working hours).
2. Second half of October: approve the mockup and confirm the order. It is the calmest moment to produce.
3. November: production, 1 to 3 weeks depending on the method, and delivery.
4. Deadlines to receive in mainland Spain before Friday 18 December, for orders of up to 500 units: 13 November for embroidery, 20 November for screen printing or transfer, and 25 November for laser engraving, pad printing, digital printing or DTF. Above 500 units, one week earlier.
5. December: hand out to employees, clients and partners.
